Academic biography
Dr. Arash Simchi is an accomplished materials scholar and a Humboldt Fellow at Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials. He obtained his Ph.D. degree with the highest honors from Sharif University of Technology in collaboration with Vianna University of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Herbert Danninger. Dr. Simchi's contributions to STEM have earned him the title of nationwide Exemplary/Distinguished Professor and Researcher in Engineering Sciences. He has frequently been a Visiting Professor at esteemed institutions worldwide, received prestigious awards, authored multiple journal papers, books and patents, and made significant contributions to the synthesis and characterization of advanced sustainable materials for biomedical applications and environmental engineering. Dr. Simchi's innovative spirit is reflected in +320 peer-review journal articles (+17,270 citations’ h-index=71), +100 invited talks in international conferences, workshops, and scientific meetings, ten registered patents with three more in development, which highlight his commitment to advancing the frontiers of science and technology. He has also served the scientific society via curriculum development for materials science and nanotechnology teaching at both national and international levels. Beside long-term positions as an executive director and expert consultancy in internationalization of universities, he has actively been committed and involved in purpusing equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the academic society in line with the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs). Dr. Simchi is a member of American Chemical Society and Materials Research Society and frequently functioned as a referee for multiple top-tier international journals.
